 welcome to the pull list!

i couldn't find anything quite like this on this site, so i figured i'd make it! this is a community intended to help people looking to get into comic books! it's intended to be a collection of resources and recommendations. (mainly reading lists/guides for various comic characters, of which i havent posted any yet but am going to be posting quite a few in the near future) please feel free to make a request for recommendations for any character you're interested in! i

and, while this is primarily meant to help people get started & share reading lists and resources and such, i'd also like for it to be a place for people to just be able to talk about comics in general, so feel free to post anything so long as its comic or comic character related: tell us your favorite character/ship & why they're your favorite, recommend an issue or a run or a fic, etc etc.

i may add guidelines or posting formats for different types of posts or something to that effect for easier sorting later on (guidelines or formats or something to that effect here) if that becomes necessary, but i'd rather gauge interest in this and see where it goes for a while, first! for now, i only ask that you don't get explicit or hateful. if things get out of hand, i'll clarify more concrete rules, but i doubt i'll need to

 

obviously still very much a work in progress, so please be patient with me! i'm very new at this!

I was hoping for something like this! I'm especially interested in sharing reading lists, with bonus points for sharing ComicRack lists. I'm painstakingly putting some together when I have the free time

I like the idea of this comm a lot! Will it be focusing on just DC comics or open to BD/manga/etc?

it's not going to be just focused on dc! it's for all comics--dc, marvel, dark horse, image, etc. etc.

as for BDs & manga, i'm not sure. i can't say i'm too familiar with either of them, but i made this community because comic books are, like, crazy hard to get into. they sometimes have continuities that stretch back to the 1930s, and it's hard to understate just how helpful it is to have something that can point you in the direction of the right stuff to read so you don't drive yourself insane trying to backtrack through 70+ years of issues to get caught up

BDs, from what i've seen, seem to be similar and run along some crazy long timelines like that, so i think they would be a good fit, but i'm not sure about manga? i could be totally wrong, but i was under the impression that manga are usually only one book without any of the usual crossover shenanigans that make comics so hard to read? if i'm wrong about that and there are some branches of it that ARE super confusing and people could use some help getting into, then by all means!

I'm pretty new to comics, so I doubt I'll be posting reading orders anytime soon, but I'm really grateful you've made this, and hope to get some recommendations to help me dip my toes further into comics fandom!

i hope so, too! it's a bit slow & empty at the moment, but i've sent messages to a lot of prolific comic reccers asking for permission to crosspost their guides here, so things should start filling up once we start hearing back from them!
